ISB – The Indian Dream …

… The Indian Dream can be understood in terms of ratio and proportion 🙂

CAT : IIM :: GMAT : ISB (specifically for Indian MBA applicants)

Every (Lets read this as majority) Indian MBA applicant who writes CAT thinks of securing a seat in one of the IIMs. The same can be safely said for work-ex junta who write GMAT. ISB is one of their default choices.

And why should it not be?

– It’s Indian

– Hassle free (visa/different culture/expenses etc.)

– Asian economy is booming and the world is taking stock. It surely will be a thing of the future.

FT.com ranked ISB as the 12th best MBA program in the world. That my no means in any dictionary is .. well, it’s awesome!!!  Did you just sense Barney 🙂

– Affordable

– 1 yr program – you get back to work quickly

– It’s Indian again. Believe me, this point needed to be repeated. It has its own advantages.

– And a plethora of other reasons.

So here I am … The first school for this season is ISB.

Since I’m an R2 applicant, the deadline for application submission is 30th Nov’2010. Today is 23rd Nov .. so I’m a full week away from the deadline. btw, this may sound like a too much of time at hand, but in reality – it isin’t. Yes, this is not sufficient. Want to try – Visit the website and see the essay questions – 3 essays in all. Now think how much time would you need to write properly, infact very properly – to present your candidature to ISB.

If you are serious, you’ll need time. I’ll leave the rest for you to estimate.

– Finalized the evaluators – one is my Previous Supervisor and one my Current Supervisor.  A word of caution to all of you out there – Choose your evaluators carefully. He/She should be able to write about you precisely. That can only happen when you’ve worked with him/her for a good amount of time.

Okay, I’m off now .. got to finalize the essays. Looks like I’ve a night-out on the cards today.

PS: Will update on my choices of other schools soon …

Happy Apping … Do share your experience if you happen to be in the same boat.

Cheers!

Update: The last date for submitting recommendations to ISB for your application to be considered in Cycle-2 is 7th Dec’10 and not 30th Nov’10. I inquired the same from the admissions office and have an email stating the same.
